It’s great to make new friends. I was lucky enough to do that this week in Paris. It reminded me that it’s never too late to meet amazing people who can add so much to your life.
A big thank you to Paul Marmor, Helen Burness, Sneha Ashtikar Roy, and Olga V. Mack for appearing on today’s panel for the International Bar Association’s annual meeting. Our program, which explored how to use social media in a strategic manner, was a big hit.
We took a deep dive, using a game show format, 📺 to discuss many of the aspects of social media usage by lawyers. There were a number of things we agreed on.
– Consider who you would like to know and don’t be shy about inviting them as a contact on LinkedIn. Include a short note with your invitation.
– Spend time thinking about your own reputation, and what it is that you want to say, regarding your work. Once you do that, a Linkedin strategy becomes much easier.
– There are so many great tools out there that can make your job easier, including Canva, Hootsuite and Later. Many of these products have free versions that you can play around with prior to committing to their monthly fee.
– Show up on a regular basis. Consistency is a key to remaining on people’s radar.
