Why did I love this dinner last week? Not only because it helped launch “Breaking Ground: How Successful Women Lawyers Build Thriving Practices,” my book (for women and men!)

Not simply because of the program itself, though the book signing and moderated conversations with others were inspiring.

It was due to the conversations that happened around it, before, during, and long after it ended.

— We talked about how relationships are built over time, not in a single meeting or moment.

— We discussed how business development is less about big gestures and more about consistency.

— We explored how, for each lawyer, finding a niche is not limiting, but actually what allows a practice to grow in a meaningful and authentic way.

What struck me most was how engaged everyone was in that discussion. These are ideas that we rarely have the time to slow down and really talk through with others who are equally committed to building thoughtful, enduring practices.

I am so grateful to everyone who joined us at the Penn Club. It meant a great deal to have such a wonderful group in the room, especially on a busy weeknight.

And to those who attended, thank you for being part of such a meaningful conversation. It is a reminder of the strength and support of our professional community.
